Officials report that an investigation into the incident and the cause of the crash are still ongoing and no charges have been filed. As bicycle and pedestrian accidents commonly occur at intersections, investigators will be looking for signs of whether the vehicle in this incident could have committed an act that contributed to the crash, such as running a red light or failing to yield on a turn. Police have reported that the victim’s bicycle was fitted with an orange flag, and local residents who use the trail have stated the intersection has a reputation for being dangerous.
